The initial idea for my project is to create the branding for a small bakery because the idea of owning a bakery has always been my dream. I used a colour palette of light pinks and greens because I wanted it to have a soft aesthetic appeal.
I went to multiple bakeries around Manchester and photographed baked goods and the interior. I will use the images to create posters and menus on photoshop and illustrator. I will also photograph different teacups, ingredients and equipment, which I will then create illustrations out of.
For my personal study I researched Paula Scher as she is well known for creating brand identity. This helped my understanding of how to create a brand effectively and I will use this knowledge during my project. I further researched more designers for my critical links which I will take inspiration from in my designs. These include Helmut Krone, Louise Fili, Lance Wyman, Paul Rand, Lou Dofsman, Lester Beall, Raissa Pardini, Pipe Pineless, Kurt Schwitters, Molokid, Jason Brooks, Stuart Kolakov and Luis Granera.
My first stage will be the branding so that I can come up with a logo. I will then create posters for my second stage using collages. For my third stage I will illustrate teacups. Then I will make the menu for my fourth stage and finally for my fifth stage I will create business cards/points cards.
My final piece will include the posters, menu and illustrations I created during the stages.
